Departed: We left Camp 4 quite early AM

Floating on the river: Jim, Mary and Boat captain Tom

Waterfall:    (Mile 116.5)

http://www.moore-fun.net/images/Canyon%20Trip/7_2.jpgStopped briefly at Elves Chasm and visited the Waterfall & Jump!  Great location. Jason (our ultra-fit fireman) was fearless here (as usual) – jumping from much higher up than anyone else.

Hike:         (Mile 136.1)

We later stopped at a wide beach below Deer Creek Falls. There were several other groups here - one of the first times we encountered many other folks on the river - however its one of the bigger areas to see and it wasn't crowded like it looks...

We had a tough hike - almost a vertical climb in places - high up the canyon walls up to a slot canyon that runs back towards Deer Creek Spring

On the way there was a small waterfall and several small swimming holes just above the slot canyon

Deep down in the slot canyon someone was taking some serious photo's... next time I want to get down in there too...http://www.moore-fun.net/images/Canyon%20Trip/9_6A.jpg

 Waterfall:   (Mile 136.1)

http://www.moore-fun.net/images/Canyon%20Trip/9_10A.jpgBack down at the river beneath the hanging slot canyon there is a huge pool with a 100’ waterfall plunging into it. I swam in the pool – huge mist/spray from the waterfall (perpetual rainbows) & strong current pushing you back – just try to swim towards it apart from the flow - the mist makes it hard to see or breath... whoa! Fun.

This is the Real Deer Creek Falls

Yes that's me but fuzzy due to the spray and cheap waterproof camera

Camp 5:    (Mile 145.6)

We stopped for the night at Olo Canyon (N River Bank) a beautiful wide beach

There was another occupied camp just upriver on the same beach and a ‘Tour West’ group on the opposite bank.

This was a long sandy beach with a stream & bushes dividing our camp from the next one with what looked like a cave & small slot canyon above - great place.

We were sneaking up to spy on the next camp (who knows what people get up to) when we realized they had some folks acting as lookouts up on the slot canyon trail – we were embarrassed to be busted!

Mileage:   27.4 miles along the river today
