Office Space in the 4th (Guest) Bedroom

Very soon after we moved in we updated the 4rd bedroom/office space to be more practical. It was the first major project in the new house. This is at the front of the house at the end of the wide hall from the family room & kitchen. It has double doors so can be opened up wide for a quite open feeling.

We contracted with Techline to install wrap around desktop/countertops with 3 corner computer workstations, a hinge up peninsula island with removable pedestal and a Murphy bed. We liked their contemporary designs with clean lines and sturdy construction. It has indeed held up very very well

We were very pleased with how it worked out and it has been a very practical space for many years. It has been computer central & filing central for the family and homework central for the kids.

Interestingly when we installed this computers were not so commonplace and only in retrospect doesi t seem such an obvious idea

After a few years I added in an additional cabinet that I constructed as a pull out under the fold up peninsula using Techline doors to match. Works perfectly - with convenient side access. The only other change was that due to all the computers and its south facing window the room could get quite hot.

When we updated the whole house HVAC we added a new air return from the office and continuous slow speed circulation and that solved the problem very well..
